Network Engines Adds Promise VTrak 15100 RAID System to its Portfolio of Storage Solution Capabilities

Storage Array Enables Customers to Quickly and Easily Add Terabytes of RAID Storage

MILPITAS, Calif. -- September 15, 2004 -- Promise Technology, Inc., the originator and leading supplier of high performance, low-cost SATA/ATA RAID data protection storage solutions, today announced that Network Engines, Inc., (Nasdaq:NENG), a leading developer, manufacturer and distributor of storage and security solutions, has added Promise's VTrak 15100 RAID storage system to its portfolio of storage solutions.

By using storage based on the Promise VTrak 15100 RAID system, Network Engines' customers can add multiple terabyte disk-based data storage solutions that deliver exceptional reliability and performance at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions.

From off-the-shelf drive support to its controller and enclosure designs, the VTrak 15100 platform uses a standards-compliant architecture to provide maximum system flexibility. The system supports up to fifteen off-the-shelf Serial ATA drives for unparalleled cost/performance/storage capacity. The VTrak system also supports standard management interfaces including SNMP, CIM, and WBEM.

The VTrak 15100 series offers a dual host port interface architecture that enables the system to be connected to two separate servers via independent Ultra SCSI 160 ports for redundant access and small cluster applications. For system protection and high availability, the system features a host of hot-swap redundant systems including drives, power supplies, and cooling systems. For enhanced data protection, the VTrak system uses advanced data guarding technologies such as Predictive Data Migration(TM), Media Patrol(TM), PerfectRAID(TM), and a battery-backed data cache.

The VTrak 15100 takes advantage of Promise's new, advanced performance controller that delivers up to 200 MB per second and up to 20,000 I/Os per second, offering strong performance for both high throughput and transactional applications such as video and database applications.
