SAN JOSE -- The world’s leading OEMs and major motherboard manufacturers are all bundling Promise Ultra100 controller technology to support Ultra ATA/100 drives, it was announced today by Promise Technology, Inc. of San Jose, CA. Dell, Gateway, and Micron PC are bundling the Promise Ultra100 card in order to offer PCs that support Ultra ATA/100 drive specifics of 100MB/sec transfers and CRC error-checking. Name brand motherboard manufacturers Microstar and Asus, among others, are shipping models that embed the Promise Ultra100 chipset. The Promise Ultra100 card/chipset is the world’s first controller to support the new Ultra ATA/100 drives from manufacturers such as Quantum, IBM, Maxtor, WD and Seagate. Ultra100 was released simultaneously with the official release of all Ultra ATA/100 drives on June 5th.
“Ultra100 is allowing these major PC name brands to integrate latest storage technology rather than anticipate the release of Intel’s newest motherboard with ATA/100 support,” said Sam Sirisena, Promise Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “ We have repeated the trend we set with Ultra33 and Ultra66 by helping all major OEMs, system integrators and VARs with time to market ATA/33 and ATA/66 storage technology”.
Promise Technology, Inc. worked very closely with all major drive manufacturers at the testing and development stages of their newest drives to assure timely delivery of a thoroughly-tested, fully-compatible Ultra ATA/100 controller, Sirisena said.
