Promise Technology ISC West Recap

Recently in Las Vegas, Nevada, Promise Technology showcased its latest solutions at ISC West, the largest security event in the US. The atmosphere was incredible, so let’s take a look back because not everything that happens in Vegas has to stay in Vegas!

As soon as ISC West kicked off on the morning of April 5th, it was clear that it was going to be one of the best attended tradeshows this year! The crowd was buzzing and set to check out the latest and greatest! Check out all the highlights here:

Promise Presentation Theater

A huge range of ecosystem partners presented at the Promise Presentation Theater, sharing valuable insight on challenges facing security professionals around the world. Each presentation was packed with visitors, but if you were not one of the lucky attendees check out the recap below:

Storage

John van den Elzen, General Manager of the Surveillance Business Unit at Promise Technology, along with Pavi Singh and Mansoor Tariq from the Promise engineering team, talked about why security professionals should deploy open platform storage solutions purpose-built for video surveillance. Plus, Promise’s SmartBoost Technologies, which deliver performance optimized for video surveillance, were introduced in great detail. A key component to Promise’s solutions are the SSD and hard drives and Ali Ordoubadian from Toshiba noted that not all drives are created equal so it is important to make sure you select a SSD or hard drive that delivers reliability and extended operation while also minimizing frame drops and image pixilation.

Video Management Software

There were impressive advancements in VMS on display at the Promise booth from the best in the industry, including AxxonSoft, Digifort, Milestone and OnSSI.

Juri Knjazev, AxxonSoft’s Business Development Director, showed us the power of their Face Search technology included in Axxon Next. The company’s face capture and search algorithm automatically detects a face in the field of view or in a provided video footage of one or several cameras, and then searches for that same face in other video provided by networked cameras. This is designed for use at public places, airports, stadiums, border control zones, prisons, critical infrastructure, and military sites.

Digifort 7.2 was unveiled in January, 2017, and Allan Stone, the company’s Director of National Sales for the United States took visitors through some of the 130 new features and enhancements included in its latest version.

Dan Berg took visitors on an inspired journey through Ocularis 5, OnSSI’s latest generation of VMS technology. Berg spoke about how Ocularis 5 addresses the industry’s continuously growing demand for more versatility and functionality to implement more sophisticated security solutions.

Cameras

Axis and Bosch cameras could be spotted throughout the Promise booth as they were key pieces to partner demos throughout the show. Vince Ricco, Business Development Manager at Axis, presented about the long relationship between Promise and Axis and how this close relationship benefits the customer.

Rudolf Spielberger, Head of Integration Partner Program at Bosch Security Systems, hosted spirited presentations that not only delved into the company’s camera technology, but also Bosch VMS which was showcased on Promise Vess A-Series NVRs, providing users with seamless management of digital video, audio and data across an IP network.

Intelligent Video Analytics

Deep learning has had a dramatic impact in many industries and Paul Sun, President and CEO of IronYun, spoke about how the company is bringing this field of artificial intelligence to video surveillance. Face recognition and person/object detection are just some examples of applications that benefit greatly as deep learning-based algorithms can be continuously trained and improved with more and better datasets which in turns leads to ever improving accuracy.

Bill Flind, CEO of Ipsotek, presented the company’s solutions which have been deployed in over 500 installations worldwide, including with critical infrastructure such as airports, where the company has secured 26 large airports around the world. Additional deployments discussed by Flind include, perimeter protection, intrusion detection, investigation & forensics and the management of traffic, crowds and operations.

Auryn: The Showstopper

Promise was very excited to show off Auryn, the company’s new high-capacity surveillance storage block, and for good reason as Auryn drew the most eyes out of any display at the Promise booth. Auryn’s sleek design and impressive capacity caught of the eyes of many people walking through ISC West, especially customers working on large projects requiring cost-effective and simple centralized storage.
